It is right to give Him thanks and praise...

If you do not know, my fiance and I are getting married this next February the 27th. And, since we are Catholic, that means the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony. For those unfamiliar with this Sacrament, it is quite remarkable. What makes it mostly stand apart from the other Sacraments, is its ministerial nature. It is the only time in Sacramental worship, where the laity are the ministers of the Holy Mystery. In this case, the Priest acts as the official representative of the magisterium and the local parish community, who will bear witness to the covenant and mediate between the Bridegroom and Bride – who are the ministers. As sacramental ministers in this rite, my fiance and I get to structure the Liturgy, that is, the Mass, for our Holy day. We did so already, and we had a very lovely time. We got to catch a glimpse of our future roles as husband and wife and God-willing, as father and mother in the beautiful faith-tradition where God has led us. Part of being ministers of this Sacrament includes choosing the Sacred Scripture readings that will take place in the Liturgy of the Word. I would like to share our Responsorial Psalm:

Psalm 128:1-5

1 Blessed is every one who fears the LORD,

Who walks in His ways. (R)

2 When you eat the labor of your hands,

You shall be happy, and it shall be well with you. (R)

3 Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine

In the very heart of your house,

Your children like olive plants

All around your table. (R)

4 Behold, thus shall the man be blessed

Who fears the LORD.(R)

5 The LORD bless you out of Zion,

And may you see the good of Jerusalem

All the days of your life. (R)
